Campus Membership
The HBCU Collaborative campus membership program is designed to directly engage HBCU communication departments, student newsrooms, and campus media outlets with year-round support, resources, and exclusive opportunities. Membership provides access to the Virtual Resource and Training Center, mentorship networks, funding pathways like the Student Impact Fund, and participation in collaborative programs and convenings. By joining, campuses gain a strategic partner to help elevate their digital publishing capabilities, enhance student career readiness, and amplify the impact of their campus journalism across local and national media landscapes.
Collaborative Cohorts
The Collaborative Cohort is a selective annual membership program that provides HBCU campus newsrooms with targeted capacity-building support, strategic advising, and participation in convenings. This cohort structure enables peer-to-peer collaboration, fosters innovation in campus publishing, and aligns students with industry opportunities and insights.
HBCU Journalism Mentorship Network
This initiative connects students with seasoned journalists, editors, and media professionals through a structured mentorship program that fosters skill development, career readiness, and real-world exposure. By facilitating one-on-one and group mentorship, the network builds a support system that helps guide students through the complexities of the media landscape.
Alumni Support Network
The Alumni Support Network leverages the experience and networks of HBCU graduates working in media to offer peer guidance, job connections, and strategic support for current students and recent graduates. The network will host virtual panels, office hours, and collaboration forums to strengthen ties between alumni and their alma maters.
Student Impact Fund
The Student Impact Fund provides financial support for student travel, conference participation, lodging, and other experiential learning opportunities related to journalism. By reducing financial barriers, the fund ensures broader student participation in national media events, internships, and professional development experiences.
Virtual Resource and Training Center
The Virtual Resource and Training Center will serve as a centralized digital hub offering on-demand training, toolkits, and workshops designed to strengthen campus newsroom operations, technical skills, and digital publishing strategies. This platform ensures equitable access to professional development resources for students and advisors across all HBCUs, regardless of size or location. Coming Soon
